A slimline belt (width 3.2 cm) made to Lewis Leathers exacting specifications, with fine-grain black leather front side and red on the reverse, this classic item is fitted with a replica of the belt buckle used on the Irvin flying jacket, worn by RAF pilots during WWII.

After the end of hostilities in 1945, both the D. Lewis shop at 124 Gt. Portland St. and its competitor S. Lewis, around the corner in Carburton St., sold used, ex-military stock. Reconditioned for sale to the British public, the jacket pictured here was originally sold by S. Lewis in 1947 and is now in the Lewis Leathers archive.

The buckle itself is of traditional construction and made from solid brass with nickel-plate to avoid corrosion. The Aviakit stamp on the back acts as confirmation of authenticity. As expected, this fine piece of leatherwork is made in England and exclusive to Lewis Leathers.
