The 402 Lightning entered the Lewis Leathers range in 1977, virtually identical to the 391 Lightning, the main difference was that the adjuster belts face towards the back rather than to the front, giving a smoother look to the jacket's front. The 402 was the 4th jacket in the Lightning family, following the 401, (now discontinued). Notable wearers include Joey Ramone in 1977 and also Marky Ramone who wore a 402 Lightning jacket on the 1978 UK tour and in the 1979 “Rock ‘n’ Roll High School” movie. |

1977年に登場した402ライトニングは、391ライトニングとほぼ同じデザインですが、アジャスター・ベルトが前ではなく後ろに向いており、フロント裾部分にプレスボタンが付き、前身頃がすっきり見えるのが最大の特徴です。
身頃には4つのジッパー・ポケットと左袖にジッパー・ポケットが1つ付いています。袖口のジッパーと両サイドのツイン・アジャスターは、ぴったりとしたフィットを確保し風の侵入を防ぎます。
402は391、392、401（現在欠番）に続くライトニングシリーズの4番目のジャケットです。
有名な着用者としては、1977年のジョーイ・ラモーン、1978年のUKツアーと1979年の映画「ロックンロール・ハイスクール」でのマーキー・ラモーン、モーターヘッドのレミー・キルミスターなどがいました。
