Mods Mayday is held in May at locations throughout Japan. As usual, fashionable people gathered for Tokyo’s event, Mods Mayday Japan. At first glance, the scene looks as if it has not changed since the past, but the still vibrant scene continues growing with an openness toward newcomers.
The southern German town of Landsberg am Lech is the home of S.I.P., the world’s largest scooter parts company. In addition to developing aftermarket parts with a focus on Vespas, S.I.P. is known for the events it frequently sponsors. In the spring of this year, the S.I.P. members traveled to the Tuscan archipelago for a long ride.
It has been 70 years since the birth of the scooter. Throughout that time, technicians at various manufacturers have produced ambitious models that reflected the lives and social conditions of the period in which they were produced. Thanks to the efforts of enthusiasts, some of the machines have been preserved in their original condition. These timeless gems are technological heritage that should be passed down for generations to come. In this edition of “Timeless Gems,” we feature the Honda Juno, an epoch-making scooter from the late ‘50s that Honda staked its fortune on.

The Ichigo Auto-by Meeting is an event held in Fukuoka, Kyushu, supported by the local vintage motorcycle and scooter lovers. It is held annually in the spring, and the participants bring machines ranging from iron scooters to classic Japanese motorcycles. Like in previous years, the event drew iron scooter owners not only from Fukuoka but also from places such as Saga and Kagoshima.
